Where Wood meets Passion and Quality
What is it about certain products that make you tell your friends (either by word of mouth or word of mouse) that this product is the best? Passion and quality are often driving forces, two qualities demonstrated by Italian furniture company Duerre who recently caught our eye at the Dubai Boat Show. In fact, their stylish custom-made yacht furnishings made quite a splash.
It’s said that it takes more than 10 years for a good artisan to develop their trade and Duerre has over 70 years experience under its belt. The furniture business has been handed down from father to son, starting out with the production of wooden furniture for the home and, since 1994, branching out to outfit luxury yachts of all shapes and sizes with beautiful classic and contemporary furnishings.
Passion? Check
Over the last 20 years, Duerre has grown from six people to 70, including 30 artisans who collaborate exclusively with the company. Duerre’s head of operations today is CEO Roberto Burchi, who previously studied English and Economics at the University of Columbia in Vancouver . Burchi has applied his love of wood to furniture and now supplies a range of industries with Duerre’s first-class furniture.
The company works with some of the most prestigious shipyards and architects (both nautical and civil) in Italy and the rest of the world. According to Burchi, “It is because of our passion that our company has been able to grow“, a passion that filters through to every single employee and doesn’t stop at the final products; it is felt by those who buy and use their products.
Quality? Check
A combination of ancient wood carving techniques, modern tools and exclusive materials makes Duerre’s furniture symbolic of true Italian craftmanship. The production process involves unique 3D software and numerical control work centers. Moreover, the culture of Italy, home to artistic greats such as Michelangelo, has played a big part in nurturing the strength and soft lines of Duerre’s designs.
Every custom-made piece is designed to fit the style of its surroundings, paying special attention to the finishing touches. Carved wood aside, the company also works with other more modern materials such as marble and mosaic. Duerre’s close attention to detail at every stage of the production process ensures that they provide, from the bottom up, furnishings of the finest quality.
Judging by what we saw at the Dubai Boat Show, Duerre’s custom-made pieces fit perfectly in some of the most divine yachts on the market. If you’re looking for a little help in the interior design of your next boat, we suggest that you call on Duerre for some of their fine Italian craftsmanship.
