Kayak with Power

The 25 mph Jetrider XL comes with a spring cushioned seat

These days, everything is motorised, even kayaks. And water gizmo makers Jetbuster (formerly Surfango) recently unveiled the ultimate motor powered kayak at Dusseldorf’s BOOT 2011 boat show, the Jetrider XL. Not only can you spare your arms the effort of pulling on a paddle but you can cruise at speeds of up to 25 mph from the comfort of a spring cushioned seat.

The Jetrider XL’s lightweight hull is constructed of high impact GRP and powered by an electric start 9.5-hp 2-stroke engine with a patented jet drive system. The kayak is controlled by a Joystick and the full 1.5 Gallon (5-liter) tank allows you to freely ride the waves for up to three hours.

However what sets it apart from other powered kayaks of the past is the comfort factor. It comes with a fully suspended and adjustable Kayashox-Pilot seat with Air Shox springs, which cushions the rider from bumpy waves. Other features include space to stow the essentials for an all-day adventure, a pair of independently working bilge pumps and a fire extinguisher bracket in the engine compartment.

Like a regular kayak, the Jetrider XL is small, light and portable, measuring 295cm long and 70cm wide and weighing in at 139lbs (approximately 68kg). We suggest you pack a couple on your yacht for a weekend of fun on the open water.
