Whoever said luxury and eco- can’t go hand in hand? This might just be the future of eco-friendly superyachts. Conceived by Sauter Carbon Offset Design in collaboration with NedShip, the new 66m Emax E-volution Solar Hybrid Superyacht (what a mouthful) is set to be the fastest and greenest superyacht to date.
Measuring 66m (overall length) X 12m (beam) X 1.8m (draught), the schooner boasts a maximum speed of 28 knots with an unlimited Zero Carbon Cruising Rang at 14 knots. The boat will be powered by the cleanest marine diesel engines on the market, 2MWs of ZP hybrid power supplied by MTU 2000 series Tier 4i engines, along with 2MWs of renewable energy supplied by wind, sun and waves and an additional 3MWs of energy from other sustainable sources – stored and employed as ballast in a lithium ion UPS.
Though the high aspect ratio DynaWing sails are 20% shorter than a conventional rig, they purportedly produce twice as much power, further upping the yacht’s environmental credentials.
Inside, the Emax E-volution yacht is a luxurious temperature controlled haven with full air-conditioning and a Waste Heat Recovery system to provide hot water. The 70 meter-square master suite covers the entire beam of the upper deck and features panoramic views, a kingsize bed, an en-suite bathroom with double Jacuzzi, a walk-in dressing room, and a private adjoining salon or office.
For your guests, there are six spacious luxury cabins, each equipped with a queen size bed, a walk-in dressing room and an en-suite bathroom. The main salon also opens out onto the rear sun deck and pool area with a dining area for up to 14 guests and a fully serviced bar.
But the piece de resistance has to be the outdoor cinema on the top deck thanks to a retractable giant flat-screen. Need we say more?
