Following sea trials in the North Sea, Heesen Yachts has just announced the launch of Aurelia, ahead of schedule. Project-managed by Nakhimov, the luxury yacht is the tenth in the successful 37metre class built by this Dutch shipyard. The smart looking boat is every yacht lover’s dream, crafted from all-aluminium hard chine and powered by two MTU 16V 4000 M90 diesel engines for a maximum speed of 30 knots.
Her sleek, attractive lines are thanks to the styling of Frank Laupman of Omega Architects. The vessel was custom-designed according to the owner’s passion for sports and racing cars and christened Aurelia, which is a tribute to the first ever GT Lancia Aurelia. Each cabin is named after and designed according to a racing car designer, including Bertone (orange Lamborghini), Pininfarina (red Ferrari), and Zagato (green Aston Martin), and her paint scheme was inspired by Gulf Racing colours with a number 10 that relates to the hull number on her quarters. The same design features appear on the 14-foot Castoldi tender.
The rich masculine-style interior was done by Bannenberg & Rowell and the elaborate details are reminiscent of the Dunhill cigarette lighter aesthetic. The main salon features a dining area and a cozy lounge space with a fire place (by Australian company Eco Smart) that uses eco-friendly Bio Ethanol.
The three exterior areas of the yacht offer ample space to entertain including a vast sundeck and bar while sun worshippers can lie out on the large mattresses located in front of the wheel house. The presence of a pair of Seakeeper gyro stabilizers enhances the overall comfort onboard.
You can catch Aurelia on show for the first time in all her glory at the Cannes Festival de la Plaisance in September.
