We know that luxury Italian sports cars don’t have much to do with the boating world but if you’re a thrill seeker then Ferrari’s new theme park, Ferrari World, in Abu Dhabi is definitely worth a visit. Situated on Abu Dhabi’s Yas Island, it’s the only Ferrari park of its kind and boasts some of the largest and fastest attractions in the world. And you wouldn’t expect anything less from a brand that strives to be number one.
For starters, the park is home to the world’s fastest rollercoaster Formula Rossa that reaches top speeds of 150mph and really is the ride of a lifetime. Other highlights among the 20 Ferrari-themed rides include Speed of Magic, a 4D fantasy simulator ride that takes you where no Ferrari has gone before, following the adventures of a boy as he travels through a kaleidoscope of natural and phenomenal environments. Then there’s the dizzying G Force ride, which is a spaceshot tower that launches you over 62 meters up and out of the building (definitely not one for vertigo sufferers). The faint hearted might prefer the gentle carousel ride, Ferrari style.
What’s more you don’t need to worry about queuing for rides in the sweltering Abu Dhabi heat as the entire park is indoors, built under a signature red 200,000 square meter roof making it the largest indoor amusement park in the world. The iconic roof was designed by Benoy Architects and modelled on the side profile of a Ferrari GT. It’s also embellished with the largest ever Ferrari logo.
More than just a theme park, it’s an experience for all the family that introduces you to the fast-paced, passionate world of Ferrari. There are various exhibitions where you can educate yourself on Ferrari’s legendary history, live shows and virtual experiences not to mention the largest Ferrari Store in the world where you can kit yourself out in head to toe Ferrari merchandise and create personalised souvenirs. When you get hungry, the food and drinks area offers tasty and authentic Italian cuisine.
If you enjoyed yourself so much that you want to go back again and again, Ferrari World now offers an annual pass allowing Ferrari fiends unlimited access for a whole year. It’s the closest you’ll get to living the dream of an F1 racer and getting behind a Ferrari wheel.
