Oman is set to join its glamorous neighbours Dubai and Abu Dhabi as a new luxury yachting destination with the development of the new Almouj Marina at The Wave, Muscat, the region’s burgeoning coastal commercial and residential area. The 400 berth marina will be developed by Technomarine in collaboration with Mourjan Marinas and the first phase is expected to be completed by the end of 2011.

According to The Wave’s CEO Michael Lenarduzzi, the world class marina promises to be a unique and vibrant centre for on and off water activities in the Gulf region, providing unrivalled facilities for sailing and boating enthusiasts.

Technomarine specializes in the building and design of custom marina systems. The new marina will feature a 40-metre fuel dock with high flow diesel pumps, pumpout and yacht provisions. It also promises to be a stunning waterfront destination offering harbour-side views, diverse dining options ranging from al fresco to quaint coffee shops, and a luxury retail promenade. A specialised dinghy ramp, which provides quick and easy access to the water, will also be available specifically for Oman Sail, pioneers of Oman’s maritime heritage and the development of the country’s modern day boating scene.

With construction fully underway, boaters are already being urged to enquire about berthing at Almouj Marina to secure their place. Mourjan Marinas IGY is also in discussions with marine related businesses for the commercial space that will soon become available in and around the marina.
